MORMON MIRACLE PAGEANT Handicapped, signing, closed-captioned, Spanish soundtrack and other language seating are available. Please ask an usher to assist in situating wheel chairs.14,000 chairs are provided for seating of the general public. Personal chairs may be set up outside the seating area but are not permitted on the temple grounds. Blankets may be used over chairs for warmth and comfort but are not allowed in the isles of the seating area. Strollers are discouraged.Gates open at 6:00 p.m. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. No reserved seating is available. If you intend to "save" seating for your group, we recommend that you have someone remain with the seating. "The Pageant and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints assumes no responsibility for personal items left or lost in the seating area". Tickets are not required for the pageant. Public restroom facilities are located to the west of pageant seating behind Beehive Distribution and to the Southeast of the seating area. Handicap restrooms are in the back of Beehive Distribution. Water fountains are provided south and also west of seating area and behind Beehive Distribution. It is wise to bring sweaters or light coats and rain gear. Evenings are often chilly. Lost & Found is northwest of the seating area at the Family History Building. For interesting things to do before the Pageant, the Manti Historical Commission sponsors "Manti Heritage Days" at the Historic Manti City Hall at 196 North Main St. There are demonstrations about pioneer homemaking skills such as butter, cheese & soap making, weaving and spinning rugs and quilts, and learning to card. There is pioneer "story telling" and you can view an interesting 30-minute video called "The History of the Mormon Miracle Pageant". Everything is free of charge and is within the comforts of the air-conditioned Historic City Hall. The demonstrations, story telling, and Pageant Historical video are open each Friday & Saturday from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. during Pageant. Plan on staying overnight, be sure to make advance arrangements. Camping and trailer parks are available in the area. The Manti City Park, located at First North and Third West, is available for camping, but is often crowded. A full-course barbequed turkey dinner will be served in the Manti Tabernacle, located at First South and Main every night of the Pageant. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, dinner is also served at the Manti Stake Center, located at Third South and Main Street to accommodate the larger crowds. Dinner is served from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each evening before the pageant. The dinners are hosted by the Manti Improvement Business Association (MIBA), and not sponsored by the LDS Church. Identical menus are served at each location and include: barbecued turkey, whipped potatoes with gravy, green beans, tossed salad, rolls and dessert. The cost of the meal is $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under 11 years of age. Reservations are not needed. Checks are to be made out to "Manti City". (Credit Cards are not accepted). Breakfast is served only on Friday & Saturday mornings of the Pageant. These breakfasts are sponsored by LDS youth groups and include the following: ham, eggs, hotcakes, syrup, butter, juice or milk. Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Manti Tabernacle at 100 South Main in Manti. Cost of the breakfast is $4.00 per person. |
